Decree 07/2017ND-CP announces guidelines on the e-visa pilot programme

The details of the new e- visa are as follows:

  • Nationals of 40 countries can apply for an e- visa through the dedicated Vietnamese governments portal
  • The e-visa is issued for a single entry of a 30 day duration maximum
  • An extension before arrival for another 30 days is possible
  • The cost of the e-visa is $25 and takes three working days to process.

As well as individual applications from eligible foreign nationals, Vietnamese host organisations or individuals are also entitled to apply for an account on the e-visa, get approval and apply for an e-visa for individual foreign national applications. The 40 eligible countries in the pilot programme include:

  • Azerbaijan
  • Argentina
  • Armenia
  • Ireland
  • Poland
  • Belarus
  • Bulgaria
  • Brunei,
  • South Korea
  • Germany
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Czech Republic
  • Cuba
  • Denmark
  • Timor Leste
  • United States
  • Hungary
  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Kazakhstan
  • Russia
  • United Kingdom
  • Luxembourg
  • Myanmar
  • Mongolia
  • Japan
  • Panama
  • Peru
  • Finland
  • France
  • Philippines
  • Romania
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • China (not applicable for Chinese e-passport holders)
