USA: Potential 30 day ban for some Middle Eastern and African nationals with US Visas

Latest update on President Donald J. Trump, potential 30 day ban

On Wednesday 25 January 2017, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order which will potentially bar for 30 days the issuance of US visas for citizens of certain countries in the Middle East and Africa, namely Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen until new visa procedures are put in place. It is expected that the Executive Order will prevent the U.S. State Department from issuing visas to citizens of these countries who wish to apply for visas at a U.S. consulate.

At this time, it is not clear exactly how long this ban will last, whether it will impact both non-immigrant (temporary) and immigrant visas, and the implications for those individuals who are already in the United States with temporary work visa status.
