United States: Travel Ban

Latest updates on the United States Travel Ban

On the 24th September 2017 President Donald Trump signed a Proclamation indefinitely restricting travel to the US for nationals of Chad, Libya, Iran, Somalia, Yemen, Syria and North Korea.

Nationals of Chad, Yemen and Libya will not be able to obtain either a B1&B2 (business) visa. Government officials from Venezuela will not be allowed to obtain B1/B2 visas either. Iranians will not be allowed any visa apart from Student (F, M and J) visas. Nationals of North Korea and Syria will not be allowed any kind of visa to allow entry into the US.

This new signed Proclamation has made changes to his previous Executive Order which include; that the new travel restrictions are indefinite, that Sudanese nationals are under no travel restrictions and Iraqi nationals will be subject to enhanced screening and vetting at the port of entry.

An important thing to note is that the Proclamation does allow waivers to be granted on a case-by-case basis.

Any citizens of the aforementioned nations that have plans to visit the US are advised to enter before 18th October 2017. Nationals of the above list of countries that currently reside in the US on any type of visa are advised not to leave the US after 18th October 2017 in case they are denied re-entry in the US.
