UAE: Female employees restricted from sponsoring their children

The UAE has placed new restrictions on female employees seeking to sponsor their children on residence visas. This rule is exempted in the following circumstances:

  • Women who are widowed or divorced
  • Women whose husbands monthly salary is less than 400 Dirhams

This new ruling has been put into effect immediately. The new policy is in place in Dubai and is more than likely to be introduced in other Emirates locations.
