Latest update on non-compliance for work permits
The Tanzanian government issued a public notice for all non-citizens and employers of non-citizens to submit their work permits for verification to the nearest labor offices by 21 March 2017.
The government will conduct countrywide labor inspections to ensure all non-citizens hold a valid work permit.
Any non-compliance is deemed as an offence in terms of the Non-Citizen (Employment Regulations) Act and a severe penalty such as imprisonment, fines or both, may be incurred.
Not only does the Notice demonstrate the challenging Tanzanian immigration climate at the moment but it also emphasizes the government’s commitment towards enforcing immigration compliance.
