Taiwan: Laws Relaxed for Foreign Professionals

Latest on laws relaxed for foreign professionals

Work permits for part time jobs are now available for the spouses of foreign professionals who are in professional and technical work.

The spouse must also work in a professional and technical sector. Sectors included are; lawyers, translators, editors, and a very broad category of “professional, technological or technical” jobs.

The minimum pay for a foreign spouse working part time is NT$200 per hour.

As with most other work permits, the prospective employer of the foreign spouse must apply for the work permit. However, employers of part time foreign spouse professionals are not subject to the minimum capital and revenue requirements that prevent many smaller Taiwanese companies from hiring foreign professionals.

The foreign spouse is subject to the usual educational and work experience requirements.
