Spain: Proof of entry now required for residence card application

Latest update in Spain regarding proof of entry for residence card application

A residence card is needed by non-EU nationals whose Spanish permits are granted for over six months. Normally applicants that enter Spain from a non-Schengen country are required to show the entry stamp on their passport.

Now, foreign nationals are required to obtain a statement of entry (declaracion de entrada) within three days of entering Spain. This document is used in support of their residence card application. Applicants should either apply with the Spanish police when they arrive at the airport or in person at the local police station within the allotted three days.
