Latest update on new President in South Africa
Cyril Ramaphosa was elected by Parliament on Thursday 15th February 2018 as the President of South Africa, replacing the recently resigned Jacob Zuma.
Ramaphosa is considered more business-friendly than Zuma and his administration is expected push through positive immigration reforms. This goes against the previous regimes restrictive immigration regulations, which drew many complaints from the business community. The government is in the process of revising the immigration system and will consider implementing a points-based system for work permits as well as skills and education requirements on employers of foreign nationals.
