Latest updates on Saudia Arabia’s Nitaqat program

Companies in Saudi Arabia must hire a quota of local employees to remain compliant in the eyes of the law. In 2011 this program was designed to increase the employment of Saudi Nationals in the private sector and is called “Nitaqat”.

Under new law implemented on 3rd September 2017, the Nitaqat program made employers hire larger amounts of local employees.

The Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) and the Ministry of Labour (MOL) have introduced a “Parallel Nitaqat” which allows employers to buy into the scheme as opposed to hiring Saudi nationals.
