Oman: Processing fees for labour clearance to increase

Processing fees for labor clearance to increase in Oman

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has announced a 50% increase on fees associated with labor clearances, the fees will increase from OMR 201 to OMR 301. A date for implementation has not yet been announced however it is anticipated to come into effect shortly.

Increases are also being applied to other visa processing fees in addition to increases to government fees for sponsoring domestic help and foreign nationals in certain agricultural jobs, which will be announced in due course. It is likely that the fee increases will have a significant effect on private companies operating in Oman.

Additional immigration updates are expected to follow but it is vital employers understand how the new rules will affect the tax position of the current employees located in Italy, as well as future assignments into or local hires into Italy.
