Latest on Malaysia’s changes in requirement for Expatriate Services Division
Effectively immediately companies must update their information on the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) portal on a yearly basis, whilst before companies were only required submitting corporate documents during initial registration with the (ESD). In order to do this companies must purchase the SSM (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia), also known as CCM (Companies Commission Malaysia) and will have to upload required information in the e-info function. Once the SSM is purchased all business information such as company address, business activities, shareholdings, directors and financials will automatically be uploaded into ESD system.
As part of the annual update, companies will also need to file copy of relevant company forms, which is also certified by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) in respect of the change(s). Once the system is set up, companies will no longer have to be field manually at the ESD authorities office in Putrajaya.
Additionally as of 1 August 2017, the Malaysian authorities will be processing Employment Pass (EP) applications based on the latest company information on the system. If the company information is not up to date, the application will be returned until the information is up dated. Any changes to company after the last update should be filed into the SSM system under the e-info function.
