Ireland: Signed employment contract needed for employment permit applications

Effective from 26th March 2018 an original and signed employment contract will be required to be submitted with initial applications or renewals of employment permits. This mainly affects employers who wish to sponsor foreign nationals to work in Ireland.

There are other planned changes to the Employment Permits Regulations which will take effect on 26th March 2018.

The main points to note are:

  • Art Director, Location designer, Character Designer, Prop Designer, Animation Layout Artist, Animation Background and Design Artists are six occupations that have been added to the Highly Skilled Eligible Occupations List (HSEOL). For employees to qualify for jobs under the HSEOL classification they will only need to have 12 months experience in 2D or 3D animation
  • Digital photograph specifications will change
  • There will be a more detailed clarification on the requirements for applicants caring for people with exceptional medical needs
