India: Biometrics Scanning Required

Latest update on India’s Bio-metrics scanning requirement at several foreign registration offices

As of immediate effect, India authorities have implemented a biometric requirement for foreign nationals that wish to apply for visa extensions and registration at the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) in Pune and at the Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Foreign nationals submitting registration or visa extension applications at these registration offices will be required to submit fingerprints and eye scans as part of the application process. You must know that biometric records collected at the FRROs are being cross-checked with those collected at ports of entry from those using the eVisa system which could create delays in clearing immigration at the airports and in completing registration on other FRO or FRRO procedures.
