Hong Kong: India Nationals Cannot Apply For Hong Kong Visit Visas At Chinese Consulate Anymore

Latest on changes to India nationals that cannot apply for Hong Kong visit visas at Chinese consulate anymore

Following from the new pre- arrival registration requirement for Indian nationals visiting Hong Kong on the, up to 14 days visa free scheme, that come into effect January 2017, with immediate effect, Indian nationals that require a visit visa to stay for more than 14 days will have to apply directly at the immigration department in Hong Kong.  They can no longer apply at their nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission.

Visa issuance through the immigration department can take up to 4 weeks, whereas consular visit visas can normally be issued within 4 business days, which can cause a major inconvenience for Indian nationals travelling to Hong Kong on a 14 day business or tourism visa.
