European Union: New EU directive implemented for non EU/EEA interns, students and researchers

A new EU directive has been implemented which eases the requirements for non EU/EEA interns, students and researchers.

Interns: Non-EU/EEA students will have more opportunities to obtain work experience in their area of study through internships across Europe. The directive does not require an intern be enrolled in a foreign academic institution, whereas previously this was a requirement

Students: The directive will aim to provide longer validity for residence permits allowing graduates to look for work or stat a business. For example, Portugal has lengthened the validity of their residence permits to students to a period that matches the length of their studies.

Scientific Researchers: Researchers will be able to enjoy greater flexibility to conduct research across Europe. They will be able to continue their stay for up to 180 days.
