From 1st April 2019 the US Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) will accept H-1B petitions which will allow work starting in the 2020 fiscal year (from October 1st 2019). The USCIS will approve 65’000 H-1B each fiscal year. A further 20’000 is available for individuals with advanced degrees from US academic institutions.
It is always recommended that sponsors and employers submit their H1-B petitions on 29th March 2019 to be delivered to the USCIS on the 1st April 2019.
The H-1B visas are temporary work permits which are available to foreign national professionals in the United States. They are obtained by the US businesses that require the services of a foreign worker. The foreign worker must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a particular field.
