United Arab Emirates: Transit Visas update

Transit Visas update

Since 1 November 2016, Qatar Immigration implemented a new visa scheme for those travelling through Hamad International Airport (HIA). Qatar Airways passengers with stopovers for more than five hours at HIA are legible for the free 96-hour transit visa, regardless of nationality. Visas must be applied for at least seven days before arriving in Qatar and are granted based on the sole discretion of the Ministry of Interior.

In order to be eligible passengers must have the following:

  • A ticket showing an onward journey out of Qatar on a flight operated by Qatar Airways
  • A passport (including infants) that is valid for at least six months from the time of arrival in Qatar
  • Providing a valid email to facilitate the visa process

These changes will not only aid the process of visa applications but also benefit the Qatar Airways passengers. Please also note that extra time should be allowed for the processing of applications during public holidays.
