UAE: Compulsory Health Insurance

Compulsory health insurance

All residents sponsored as an employee or investor/shareholder in Emirates of Dubai must have compulsory health insurance from an authorized Dubai Health Authority (DHA) provider. Health insurance for all should be obtained by 31 December as per the Dubai Health Insurance Law No.11.

Companies in Dubai mainland and free zones that sponsor the residence visa must provide their employees with insurance cover, which is now a mandatory part of the visa process. Failure to obtain health insurance could result in penalties.
As health insurance will have a direct link to new and renewal visa processes of Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai the processing time for residence visa will increase.
