Singapore: Eligibility for Dependant’s Pass

Latest update on the eligibility for Dependant’s Pass in Singapore

As of 1st January 2018, Employment Pass holders will need to meet a minimum salary criteria of SGD 6,000 to be able to apply for Dependant’s Passes for their family. They will also need to meet a minimum fixed monthly salary of SGD 12,000 to bring their parents on Long Term Visit Pass.

Dependant Pass

  • Legally married spouse
  • Unmarried children under 21 years old including legally adopted children

Long Term Visit Pass

  • Common-law spouse
  • Unmarried children above 21 years old who have disabilities
  • Unmarried step-children under 21 years old

The Ministry of Manpower have issued these updates to ensure the main pass holder will be able to upkeep their family members in Singapore.

How this may affect you

These changes apply to new Dependant Pass and Long Term Visit Pass applications made on or after 1 January 2018

Dependant Passes and/or Long Term Visit Passes renewed on or after 1 January 2018 will not be affected provided, the main pass holder remains with the same company who is sponsoring their Employment, Dependant and/or Long Term Visit Passes

If the main pass holder changes his/her employer from 1 January 2018, he/she will have to meet the revised salary criteria in order for him/her to retain the dependant privileges

The company must factor in the revised minimum salary requirement when sponsoring the Singapore passes of the foreign employees with family members, accompanying them in Singapore
