Residence permits for NON EU Nationals

Latest News on permits for NON EU Nationals

Residence permits will no longer be issued as a sticker in the passport. Residence permits for all categories will be issued as a residence card containing a microchip with data and biometric data in the form of two fingerprints and photo. This change came into effect on 20 February 2017.

One month after the application for a new/renewal resident permit is submitted a further appointment for electronic fingerprints will be set up. At the appointment, the applicant will also have to sign a signature page which will be scanned to be displayed in the residence card.

Fingerprints do not apply to children under the age of six and signatures will not apply to children younger than 12 years old.

An additional stamp duty of 16 Euro per residence permit will apply. This fee corresponds to the actual costs for printing the residence card.

Valid residence permits that have already been issued as a sticker do not need to be exchanged.
Any applications submitted prior to 20 February 2017 and are still pending decision will be issued according to the new regulations. These applicants will be contacted for appointment for the collection of the biometric data.
