Iraq: New requirements for Visa Letters of Approval

Iraq’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) now requires companies to pay a security deposit of IQD 100’000 for each visa application to obtain a Visa Letter of Approval if they do not have a waiver from the Prime Minister’s Office.

In addition, to process the deposit payment and release of the Letter of Approval for a standard visa process for a Non-Arab national, the MOI now needs non-exempt employers to present copies of updated documentation. The documents that are required vary for different companies:

Registered branch

  • Branch Registration Licenses
  • Board of Directors Resolution
  • Passport of the Foreign Director/Branch Manager, or civil documents of the Iraqi Director/Branch Manager
  • Contracts with an Iraqi Ministry

Registered LLC

  • Shareholder Resolution
  • Articles of Association
  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Passport of the Foreign Director/Branch Manager, or civil documents of the Iraqi
  • Director/Branch Manager
  • Contracts with an Iraqi Ministry
