Iraq: Immediate changes to Kurdistan immigration rules

Latest news on the immediate changes to the Kurdistan immigration rules for exiting Iraq

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced new instructions, stopping anyone from existing Iraq via Kurdistan which will be valid until 15 May 2017.

For those requiring an exit card to leave the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) will have to pay a penalty to the MOI immigration office and be permanently banned from entering Iraq along with a red stamp on their passport.

If an existing card is required it maybe for those whose visa or iqama (residence permit) has expired or those who are transiting out of Iraq through Erbil (capital of KRG) holding a valid multiple entry/ exit Iraqi visa (MEEV) or and expired Common Access card (CAC – US military ID card).

Furthermore, the nationalities of following countries have been banned from entering the KRI without a KRG visa or Iqama, even if they hold a valid Iraqi MEEV: Philippines, China, Sri Lanka, India, Syria and Nepal.
