India: Updates on registration formalities

Latest Updates on Indian Registration Formalities

The Chennai FRRO (Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office) now requires hotels, landlords and other accommodation providers to complete an online Form C notification within 24 hours of a foreign nationals arrive in Chennai, India. This applies to every national on a student, research, medical or employment visa valid for over 180 days.
This does not apply to those on an entry, business or journalist visa regardless of length of stay. Children below 16 years of age are exempt from any registration procedures.

Please note: this 24 Hour process will be more widespread throughout India in the near future with Foreigners Registration Offices being implemented in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Goa, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and others
