Latest Updates on Costa Rica’s Consular and Social Security Registrations
Updates regarding Consulate application
Prior to any travel the main applicant must register and provide their fingerprints at the Costa Rican consulate in their home country before submitting their temporary residence application. Fingerprints need to be provided by the main applicant and their dependents over the age of 12.
Under the previous laws, these steps would have been completed after a main applicant obtained the temporary residence approval.
Updates regarding Social Security Registrations
The main applicant and dependents (over the age of 18) must register with the Costa Rican Social Security Office once temporary residence is approved. This must be completed prior to the applicants applying for the residence card.
