Brazil: New Temporary Residence Status for Nationals of Neighbouring Non-Mercosur Countries

Latest on the new temporary residence status for nationals of neighbouring non-mercosur countries

The National Immigration Council in Brazil has introduced a temporary residence process for nationals of countries bordering Brazil which are not signatories to the Mercosur agreement.
Nationals of French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela who entered Brazil overland will benefit from the new residence status.

In order to obtain the temporary residence status the foreign national must submit an application to the federal police. Once approved, it may be granted for a period of two years.
