Brazil: Brazil to Join the Hague Apostille Convention

Immigration Update – Brazil

Brazil will join the Apostille Treaty of the Hague Convention on 15 August 2016. This move will simplify the procedure for document notarisation. Consular legalisation will no longer be required and this will be replaced with the grant of the “Hague Apostille” which in essence is a stamp on the document. Documents that contain the Hague Apostille will be accepted in all countries inside the convention.

Brazil will cease to accept documents that are without the Hague Apositlle from 14 February 2017.
