Latest update on the Skilling Australians Fund
The Migration Amendment Bill 2015 passed by the Parliament of Australia on 9th May 2018, will be implemented during the first quarter of the 2018-2019 financial year (between July and September 2018). Once this is passed the Skilling Australians Fund will have to be paid at the time of Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS), Subclass 186 and Subclass 187 visas applications.
In addition to the above, resident labour market testing will be required. Jobs will need to be posted for four weeks and posted during a four month period before any nomination is lodged. The advertisements must state the skills and experience required for the offered job positions.
The Department of Home Affairs has expanded the list of acceptable methods of testing the resident labour market for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) and Subclass 482 categories. Employers are now able to use LinkedIn and industry specific job sites to advertise roles and job positions.
