Latest On Changes To Rules of Hiring Foreign Employees

With immediate effect in Angola from the presidential decree no 79/17 of 24 March 2017, the rules were relaxed for employing foreign nationals established in the presidential Decree no 43/17 of 6 March 2017.

The decree sees the following changes

  • Angolan corporations may hire foreign professionals for the provision of services or technical assistance
  • The duration of employment agreement can be negotiated between the employee and employer and can be review twice only
  • The foreign national employee’s salary can be negotiated between employee and employer and can be paid in any currency other than in Kwanzas
  • Benefits and allowances is no longer limited to 50% of the employee’s salary
